My Silly, Goofy Boy

My son, the silly, funny goofball that God blessed me with has one little problem. It is an especially big problem when your mom is a photographer. His problem? He HATES having his picture taken. Hates it! Hides from the camera, he does.

However, after he found these cute little mustaches at the dollar store, he decided that it would be fun to do a photo shoot with them. WHAT? So, mommy did a quick little happy dance and got down to business before he could change his mind! They turned out so….so Logan….that we decided to make a collage of our favorites and give them to the grandparents for Christmas gifts. And guess what? They loved them. We knew they would. I bragged about him for weeks. Hopefully, the next time we find some cute props, he’ll decide to pose for his mom again. I sure hope so! :)

This is my buddy, Snake. Looks like a tough guy, right? He is truly one of the nicest people I know. I wanted to challenge myself to do some journalistic photography, something that tells a story.

Snake was kind enough to dress out in his full leathers and go all out to make this an awesomely fun shoot. We chose a beautiful Fall day and headed out. We had a blast and he got to show off his bike a little, too.All along, I wanted these photos to be edgy, colorful, grungy and heavy on the texture. I think we accomplished that.

New Blog Look Coming Soon!

I have some ideas floating around in my brain for how I want this blog to look. The most important thing is to be able to share my photography with my fans. So…..I’m looking into how to make this a BEAUTIFUL photography blog and hope to debut an all new look soon!

Changing Things Up A Bit

For those of you who happened upon my website via Facebook or one of my business cards, I wanted to update you on some changes going on around here.

2011 has started out as sort of a rough year for my family. I was hospitalized twice and ended up having surgery, which sidelined me for a little while. I’m doing better now, though. My father has Stage III Pancreatic Cancer and is getting ready to embark on a tough journey of chemotherapy and quite possibly radiation and surgery. At the same time, my husband started having health issues of his own, and my younger brother fell off a roof, shattering both feet and requiring surgery.

As you can imagine, because I also have a family to raise and nurture, as well as a full time job as an RN, my free time has shrunk considerably. I made the extremely hard decision to close the portrait side of my photography for a while. I just feel it is more important to be here for my family right now, rather than actively marketing and promoting my portrait business. It is still my dream to have a thriving part time photography business, so keep up with me. I’ll be back, stronger than before….and hopefully, with less on my plate.

Of course, I am also still photographing things besides people. Stuff like buildings, flowers, nature, scenic landscapes, etc…I might occasionally offer some extra special images for sale here on this website, so keep your eyes peeled!

In case you aren’t aware of it, you can subscribe to this website and each time I post something, it will be delivered to your email inbox! Just look for the subscribe info on the left hand side of this page, enter your email address and submit. Easy-peasy :)

And for all of you who support my dreams, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
